The story behind CarePorch Visits

People wanted to come. They just needed an easier way.

“Care isn’t only about keeping someone healthy. It’s about keeping them connected to joy and the people they love.”

Mary Ann was my preschool teacher before she was my mother-in-law. Hers was the house you always wanted to be invited over to for dinner, because she was a great cook and she always made you feel welcome. After she developed dementia, people would stop me at church or Publix to ask how she was and say they wanted to visit. But with two little kids and countless family schedules, I never had an easy way to turn those good intentions into a plan.

That’s why I teamed up with Dan Salinger, whose videos about caring for his dad, Ed, have built a community of more than two million people on TikTok, to create CarePorch Visits: a simple way to help more people follow through and spend time together.
