CarePorch is operated by Salinger and Dalley Holdings, Inc. ("CarePorch", "we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the CarePorch website, mobile app, and related services.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including:
- Account information, such as name, email address, password or sign-in credentials, and authentication identifiers.
- Profile information, such as profile photo, about text, caregiving role, who you care for, optional location text, additional profile photos, and onboarding responses about your caregiving situation or goals.
- Community content, such as channel messages, direct messages, private group content, thread replies, reactions, photos, videos, reports, and moderation details you choose to submit.
- Support and request information, such as emails or messages you send to us.
- Website interest-form information, such as name and email address when you ask for early access or updates.
We also collect information automatically or from service providers, including:
- App and device information, such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, log data, diagnostics, crash reports, performance information, and security events.
- Push notification information, such as Expo and chat push tokens when you enable notifications.
- Usage information, such as pages visited on our website and how app features are used.
- Local app storage used to keep you signed in, remember app preferences, and cache community/profile state for reliability.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create, authenticate, and manage accounts.
- Provide community channels, private groups, direct messages, media uploads, member profiles, invite links, and notifications.
- Show your profile and content to other users according to the spaces, groups, messages, privacy settings, and blocking controls you use.
- Operate moderation and safety features, including reports, blocking, administrator review, rate limits, abuse prevention, and message filtering that may remove phone numbers or email addresses before a message is posted.
- Send service emails, password reset messages, support replies, and other operational communications.
- Analyze, debug, secure, and improve CarePorch.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, safety, and integrity of CarePorch, our users, and others.
Health and Caregiving Information
CarePorch is a caregiver support community. You may choose to share caregiving, family, disability, health, or care-recipient information in your profile, onboarding answers, messages, groups, photos, or videos. Please share only information you are comfortable sharing with the people who can access that space. CarePorch is not a medical provider and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency services.
How Information Is Shared
We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information:
- To other CarePorch users, based on the community channels, groups, direct messages, profile features, media uploads, and invite flows you use.
- To service providers that help us run CarePorch, including providers for authentication, chat, hosting, databases, media storage and delivery, push notifications, email, analytics, error monitoring, forms, and security.
- To moderators, administrators, or safety reviewers when needed to review reports, enforce community rules, respond to abuse, or protect users.
- When required by law, legal process, or a good-faith safety, security, or fraud-prevention need.
- In connection with a business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.
Your Choices
You can update certain profile information in the app, manage profile photos and additional photos where supported, control community discoverability and direct-message preferences, manage notification settings and quiet hours, leave groups where permitted, block users, and report content. You can also contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or other help with your account information.
Account Deletion and Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide CarePorch, maintain community safety, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and secure our services. When you request account deletion, we will delete or de-identify account information where technically and legally available. Some content, moderation records, logs, backup copies, or records needed for safety, security, legal, or anti-abuse purposes may be retained for a limited period or as required by law.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted transmission where appropriate and access controls for operational systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
CarePorch is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to CarePorch, please contact us.
U.S. State Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or information about how we handle your personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice when appropriate.
